Babywearing Tips: Woven Wraps

Woven wraps are the baby carrier with the highest learning curve. This means it takes a bit more work to get one on right. But this work has huge rewards!  Not only will you feel accomplished that you manged to wrap your little darling in all that fabric, but you will get many comments on your beautiful wrap! ( we won’t mention the “are you going to drop your baby” comments!  :-) )   I bought my first woven wrap when my little guy was 4 months old. It’s hard to choose a wrap because of all the beautiful colorways!  Once you find your wrap and you have it home, here are some tips to help make wearing a little easier. [Read more...]

How Often Do You Babywear?

You may know this by another name… “Don’t You Ever Put Your Kid Down?” or perhaps, “You Will Spoil Him If You Hold Him All The Time.” Or maybe you know this one, “She Will Never Learn To Walk.”  Those people who would title this post differently are just jealous of the fabulous bond you have with your child that allows you to snuggle and cuddle with them as much as you can AND get lots of work done around the house… or check Facebook.. whatever. Wearing Baby on Your Back in a Woven Wrap

I’ve been doing a lot of practicing with my woven wrap lately. My little guy is getting bigger and it’s just not as comfortable to wear him on my front. I do own a Soft Structured Carrier (SSC), but I wanted to also be able to wear him in my woven, so I’ve been looking on YouTube for different back carries and trying them out, with varying degrees of success. Blogging Hiatus

If you are a regular site visitor, you may have noticed there have not been many posts for quite some time. Well, life happens sometimes. First my computer went wacky and wouldn’t connect to the internet, then we moved. We are still in a weird moving limbo, but I finally am able to post a little bit.  If you want to keep up with me, even when I’m not blogging, you can always find me on Facebook and Twitter. It’s a little easier to do those things with my smartphone than it is to blog sometimes!

As for babywearing… I recently got a new Boba.  It’s the older, 2G version, but I got it for half price, so I’m really excited about that!  So, coming soon I will have a review of it.

I’ve also been practicing some back carries. Now that my little man is 1 (yikes, how did that year go so fast?) he is getting a little harder (heavier!) to wear in front. So I’ve been trying to perfect the double hammock back carry with a woven wrap. I’ve been doing pretty well, but still could use some practice.   Luckily he is a little more patient with me while I attempt to wrap him on my back. Before when I was trying he would wiggle and cry.

Lately it has been a rainy mess outside. Today, the sun was shining and so I wrapped little man up and decided to take both our dog and my mom’s dog with us as we went on a walk  around the neighborhood. Everyone behaved nicely and it was wonderful to get out and enjoy some dry sunshine!

So, keep with me, babywearers, I promise soon I will be back to blogging more regularly!  Are there any topics you want to see?  Let me know!

Baby Carrier Review ~ BB Slen, Papaya

Big Sister with baby in woven wrapThe BB Slen in color papaya is my first woven wrap. After much angst and searching and asking questions on a babywearing forum I finally decided on it. It’s so hard to choose a wrap, especially when it’s your first and you know NOTHING about them!  [Read more...]

A day at the zoo and babywearing

Having an older child as well as a baby does have it’s challenges. Going out for the day used to be simple, we pack a few things for the car ride for Big C and some snack and away we go. She’s pretty self-sufficient, can tell us what she needs… she can walk most places or ask for a break. When Little C came along we had to go backwards a bit and planning a day away from home became a lot more time consuming.   [Read more...]
