Several months ago I got on a waiting list through Paxbaby.com to try out her Traveling ObiMama. ObiMama is a work at home mom who makes mei tais (and ring slings). More specifically she has made some beautiful mei tais from woven wraps. I feel so lucky I got to try one out and share it with my babywearing group. It was definitely hard to say goodbye to this carrier after a week. [Read more...]
Wearing Baby on Your Back in a Woven Wrap
I’ve been doing a lot of practicing with my woven wrap lately. My little guy is getting bigger and it’s just not as comfortable to wear him on my front. I do own a Soft Structured Carrier (SSC), but I wanted to also be able to wear him in my woven, so I’ve been looking on YouTube for different back carries and trying them out, with varying degrees of success. Blogging Hiatus
If you are a regular site visitor, you may have noticed there have not been many posts for quite some time. Well, life happens sometimes. First my computer went wacky and wouldn’t connect to the internet, then we moved. We are still in a weird moving limbo, but I finally am able to post a little bit. If you want to keep up with me, even when I’m not blogging, you can always find me on Facebook and Twitter. It’s a little easier to do those things with my smartphone than it is to blog sometimes!
As for babywearing… I recently got a new Boba. It’s the older, 2G version, but I got it for half price, so I’m really excited about that! So, coming soon I will have a review of it.
I’ve also been practicing some back carries. Now that my little man is 1 (yikes, how did that year go so fast?) he is getting a little harder (heavier!) to wear in front. So I’ve been trying to perfect the double hammock back carry with a woven wrap. I’ve been doing pretty well, but still could use some practice. Luckily he is a little more patient with me while I attempt to wrap him on my back. Before when I was trying he would wiggle and cry.
Lately it has been a rainy mess outside. Today, the sun was shining and so I wrapped little man up and decided to take both our dog and my mom’s dog with us as we went on a walk around the neighborhood. Everyone behaved nicely and it was wonderful to get out and enjoy some dry sunshine!
So, keep with me, babywearers, I promise soon I will be back to blogging more regularly! Are there any topics you want to see? Let me know!
Babywearing Tips: Baby carrier weight limits
The weight limit of your baby carrier is something one might not think about on a daily basis, but it is an important feature to consider when you are choosing your baby carrier. The weight limit the manufacturer suggests and the actual weight limit your body is able to tolerate can be quite different. A lot depends on the type of baby carrier and whether it uses one or both shoulders to help bear the weight of the baby. [Read more...]
Baby Carrier Review ~ BB Slen, Papaya
The BB Slen in color papaya is my first woven wrap. After much angst and searching and asking questions on a babywearing forum I finally decided on it. It’s so hard to choose a wrap, especially when it’s your first and you know NOTHING about them! [Read more...]
How many baby carriers is enough?
How many baby carriers do you own? One…two…more? For a lot of people one baby carrier is enough for them. They find the one baby carrier that does everything they want. Then there are others. I ended up falling into the others category. [Read more...]
