Rockin’ Baby Slings is our Product Spotlight this week. This company is owned by Kathryn Wiley, mother of 5, who bought the company in 2011. Kathryn was influenced by TOMS shoes “One for One” mission and created a mission of her own called “Mother to Mother”. What this means is for every Rockin’ Baby Sling sold, one is given to a mother in Haiti, where there is a high infant mortality rate. Women are also taught how to use the slings in their everyday life, and how wearing their babies helps with breastfeeding and attachment. The company also aims to help bring babywearing to more moms in our own country through education. You can find information on these missions on the Rockin’ Baby website under Mother to Mother and Mother to Child
Rockin’ Baby Slings, The Carrier:
The ring slings of Rockin’ Baby Slings all have interesting names to them, such as “Take Good Care of My Baby” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love”. The ring slings are made with 2.5 yards of 100% cotton poplin or cotton sateen for one-sided slings and 5 yards of fabric for reversible slings. Each sling has a pocket on the tail (2 pockets for reversible slings!). There are 2 sizes to the ring slings, XS for petite people under 5’3″ and OS for everyone else. If you find that the tail is a bit long for your liking, you can simply wrap the tail around the rings or tuck it into the pouch of the sling. The slings are made in Richmond, VA. These slings can be used with a newborn up to a child that weighs 40 pounds.
Where to Buy:
Rockin’ Baby slings can be purchased on their website for $79.99, and in limited colors on Amazon.com
