How many baby carriers do you own? One…two…more? For a lot of people one baby carrier is enough for them. They find the one baby carrier that does everything they want. Then there are others. I ended up falling into the others category. I didn’t mean to. I was just going to get 2, a stretchy and a mei tai. Then I decided I needed another kind of baby carrier because my baby was too big for the stretchy, but wasn’t fitting in the mei tai very well… then I wanted something for quick trips to the store… then I wanted something I could wear in the water. You see how it goes!
Currently I own 4 carriers; 2 ring slings, a BB Slen woven wrap and a Kozy Carrier mei tai. I also have a Hotslings pouch that I’ve borrowed from a friend and a Sleepy Wrap stretchy that a friend of mine is borrowing for her newborn. I also have a mesh ring sling on the way from Boutique Bella Bambini. I think after this there is only one more baby carrier I would like after this, a shorter woven wrap.
Here is how I got my carriers. Originally, as I said, I had decided I would get a stretchy wrap and a mei tai for when my newborn outgrew the stretchy wrap. I lucked out and found the Sleepy Wrap and Kozy Carrier at a local consignment sale for major bargains. I was so excited! All my baby carrier shopping done at one time. Once my baby had arrived I loved snuggling him in the Sleepy Wrap. When he got a little bigger I tried out the Kozy Carrier, but found it was a bit big for him, even when I rolled the bottom up several times. After doing some research, I decided to get a woven wrap and chose to get a BB Slen as I’d seen many opinions that they were fairly easy for new wrappers to figure out. I loved it when it arrived, but soon found that for quick trips into the store or many short trips in a day I found that it was fairly awkward to keep wrapping and unwrapping my baby. Then I decided I wanted a ring sling for trips like this. I bought a Zolowear ring sling, but had a hard time getting the shoulder just right. I happened upon a garage sale where there was a lady there who was selling ring slings she made and sells on Etsy. Her Hippie Baby Designs ring sling was so comfortable! Then summer hit and my daughter likes to swim and go to parks with water features. I wanted something that would be quick drying for times like that and to be able to keep my baby close while I’m near the water. So I ordered a mesh ring sling by Boutique Bella Bambini. And now I’m pretty sure there is only one more baby carrier I want. A shorter woven wrap in order to do some short wrap back carries.
So, how many baby carriers do you have? Are you at your “perfect” number? If there are other baby carriers you want, what are they?

I have a little collection
Ergo, Snugli (reviewing it, they redesigned it so it doesn’t crotch dangle), Beco, woven, sleepy wrap, Moby (being borrowed), 2 ring slings, Mei Tai.
Um yeah….LOL
I think a SSC is a MUST for everyone – or at least a Mei Tai. Some mamas are pros at wrapping and that is all they ever need is a woven, but I am not and need something that is a snap to put on and super comfy. Ring slings are fast, but not the comfiest ever
I currently have 6. I had 7 but recently gave one of my ring slings away. I have three that I don’t like how they fit us, so I’m passing those on. I would like to get another one since I have nothing to wear in the water… and maybe a pouch. I think I have an addiction.
I have an addiction too! I have on the way a Boba SSC. So excited about that! The water sling is great. So hard to hold onto a slippery baby!
I only have (gasp) ONE! BUT, if baby #3 comes along… I will be trying a lot more!
I have a Moby wrap and an Infantino carrier I picked up at a consignment shop. We used the Moby ALL the time when Caleb was a newborn. I don’t think I would have survived some days without it.
Now that he’s a little bigger (5 months), we like the Infantino traditional carrier for things like shopping trips where we don’t feel like lugging the stroller.
I’ve been intrigued by the Hava slings, but I think I’m satisfied at two right now.
I tried a few (bjorn carrier, sleepy wrap, peapod sling), but stuck to the BambooMama baby wrap for it’s stretchy comfort for both me and baby through all growing stages.
I didn’t like the wrap at first, it does require some getting used to the wrapping technique, but after a few weeks it became so second nature I just love it and honestly could not do without it, particularly the first 6 weeks after birth when baby is already getting used to so much that with a wrap, mommy separation need not be one of those things. And though I have tried others again with my second child, thinking a stretchy sling would be better that time around for ease of use, I quickly reverted back to the stretchy BambooMama baby wrap, finding new ways to carry, and wear the wrap (with or without baby) all day. A wrap becomes even more essential with multiple children.
Baby wearing makes life so much easier … honestly, everyone should have one and use it as much as possible!
I loved my stretchy wrap as well when my guy was tiny. Now that he is bigger I love my woven wrap. Took a bit of getting used to how to tighten it, but now I love, love, love it!
Hey mama! How did you like the bbb mesh rs?
I really like the Boutique Bella Bambini mesh ring sling. It was perfect for our summer water adventures!
I have a Beco Butterfly II that I used with #1. For #2 I wanted a wrap and a ring sling because I had trouble nursing in my Beco. I got a Moby and a BBSlen ring sling. Can’t wait to try them out! I kept going back and forth wondering if the Beco, Moby and the BBSlen would be too many to own, but I wanted them all.
I don’t think that is too many to own! I have added a Boba to my stash and there are still 2 things I want to at least try. You will have to tell me how you like your BB Slen ring sling. Does it have the Babylonia shoulder, or did you get it from somewhere else? What colorway did you get? I really want one in Turkish Delight!
I have 2 Mobys, a mei tai, a Snugli, and an Ergo. I just recently got the Ergo and now I feel like all the others are redundant. But I can’t bring myself to get rid of them quite yet either! We also own a Manta wrap from Peru but I can’t see myself ever actually using it – it’s basically a big blanket that you fold/wrap a certain way and tie in front of your chest, but I can never get it tied so it’s not choking me.
Wow I thought i’m obsessed just trying to get the 2nd one!
I’m 8 months pregnant hubby got me a baby k’tan. I want to add a Hotsling to our collection. Anyone has a view on the Hotsling? I’m petite frame 5’3″ I’m worried about the new sizing (only Reg, or Large) and I can only buy them online…
With the new Hotsling sizing it is easier to find the right size for you. The pouches are adjustable to accommodate a variety of body sizes. Since you are currently pregnant, have your husband measure you with a sewing measuring tape from the top of your shoulder, diagonal across your back to your opposite hip. If the measurement is between 23 and 26 inches you need a regular size. If it’s larger get the large size.
