Here is another review from my friend Katie! This time she is reviewing the Peanut Shell Pouch Sling. A pouch is similar to a ring sling as that it is worn like a sash over one shoulder and across the body. A pouch, however is not adjustable, it is simply a tube of fabric, so measuring yourself and finding your right size is a must, otherwise both you and your baby will be uncomfortable! Also, remember safety in a pouch, you must be careful when using the cradle carry position so that your baby doesn’t get in a “chin to chest” position and become unable to breathe.
I got this sling when my first daughter was probably 4 months old. It was my first legit baby wearing item since my other item was an Infantino carrier. I can’t begin to tell you how uncomfortable the Infantino carrier was. The Peanut Shell Classic Sling was my eye opening piece that showed me how comfortable babywearing could be. And I LOVE the pattern!
Peanut Shell Specifics
This Peanut Shell is the “Classic Sling” . It has a padded inside leg rail, and a small outside pocket. It is cotton stretch (97% cotton and 3% spandex) and I believe mine is a size large (fits a clothing size 12 – 18) in the pattern Boho Chic.
My Peanut Shell Experience:
The Peanut Shell Classic Sling was my first love when it comes to baby wearing. It opened my eyes to the possibilities of having my baby with me doing everyday things! The Peanut Shell Classic Sling is comfortable, and has many options for use. I started out using the Peanut Shell Classic Sling doing the Kangaroo Carry since my daughter was too old for the Cradle Carry and she was very curious and loved looking around. I loved that I could do so many things finally since she needed to be held so much. She loved being in the Peanut Shell Classic Sling looking forward and still being with me. As she got older, I started using the hip carry with the Peanut Shell Classic Sling and I eventually figured out that I could then scoot the sling around so that she could be on my back while I did the dishes. Anytime she could be with me in the sling she loved it. The downside to The Peanut Shell Classic Sling is the limited mobility you get with one of your arms since the fabric of the Peanut Shell Classic Sling is spread over your shoulder. This does make the Peanut Shell Classic Sling very comfortable though. This is a great carrier for quick in and out. I’ve also easily nursed in the Peanut Shell Classic Sling at the grocery store. I threw my nursing cover over it since she likes to flap the loose top fabric around, but I was hands free nursing an 11 month old in public! I really do like the Peanut Shell Classic Sling.
Overall:
I’ve worn the Peanut Shell Classic Sling in front of several of my friends who have then bought one because they loved how easy and comfortable it looked. The Peanut Shell Classic Sling speaks for itself that way! The Peanut Shell Classic Sling isn’t as comfortable as a wrap for long term wearing, and for more athletic style activities like walking or easy hiking, but it definitely has its uses and it is a great sling. Even my husband will wear our daughter in the Peanut Shell Classic Sling!
